Anniversary & "Nuts to you!"

Today marks the fifth anniversary of my decision to make some changes for my healths sake!! My soulmate, Bonnie and I set off on this wonderful journey together! We made small changes in our eating and exercise (or lack of it!). We educated ourselves and came up with a workable plan for bettering our health and in my case, loosing weight! Lots of it..........over 250 pounds of fat gone! One meal at a time it remains gone! Thanks to all the wonderful comments I have received during the past five years I have maintained my weightloss!! I thank God! I thank Bonnie and I thank you!

Todays health tip: NUTS! I eat one ounce of tree nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistachios etc.) everyday! Nuts are high in fiber. They are also an excellent source of omega-3 essential fatty acids. They work to lower cholesterol (lowers LDL, BAD cholesterol and raises HDL, GOOD cholesterol). They also reduce your triglycerides. All this helps your body to keep your heart healthy and also guards against the formation of gallstones.

Nuts are also a good source of vitamin E, magnesium, riboflavin, potassium, vitamin B1, protein and folate. Do your body a favor and eat an ounce today..............tomorrow and all the tomorrows to come!

I keep a container of mixed nuts and take one ounce, put them in a small bowl and microwave them for one minute! "Hot roasted nuts, anyone?" Enjoy.

CAUTION: One ounce of nuts contain about 160 - 180 calories so you might have to adjust something else to make room for them.
